Today’s Topic: Life lesson from Karate Kid
Nowadays things don’t slow down.
As we move through this life, our list of responsibilities, to do’s, and need-to-knows becomes lengthy.
Add on top the constant bombardment our minds experience and you’ve got yourself a one way ticket to overwhelm.
If you aren’t carving out time to slow down, reflect, reassess, and recharge… you won’t be getting it.
The majority of people nowadays are on autopilot, and running from one thing to the next.
I, along with many other people chasing their potential have identified something that gives us an unfair advantage in this world:
Stillness.
Last night while watching Karate Kid, I heard a powerful statement.
|
|
“Being still, and doing nothing are two completely different things.”
Jackie Chan
|
Being still is an active practice:
- It requires discipline
- You get better at it with time
- The more you practice the more rewarding it becomes
My challenge to you this weekend?
Be still.
Find time to sit alone with yourself, calm your mind, and just be.
From that place, magic happens:
- You will find solutions to your current problems
- You will gain peace of mind in a busy world
- You will release the stress you carry
There is a reason people have been preaching it for thousands of years.
Today’s Tip: Proper preparation prevents poor performance
On the topic of competitive advantages in the world, there is one other thing that shines through.
There are a few ways of saying it:
- Preparation
- Planning
- Organization
Either way the point is the same: If you take time ideally daily to prepare, you will more often than not “Play at your best.”
This could be as simple as getting your clothes out, and writing your to-do list the night before.
It could be as complex as having a comprehensive planner for the entire year you review often.
There is nothing your future self will be more thankful for, or reap the benefits of.
Tonight, start small:
- Write down the 3 most important things you are going to do tomorrow.
- Get out the clothes you will wear for tomorrow.
- Look at, and add to your calendar.
It isn’t the big things that cause success, it’s always the little ones.
Today’s Takeaway: Winners Circle
Every Sunday I run a call for my community members called the Winners Circle.
- We plan out our week together.
- We celebrate our wins.
- We share accountability, and support.
On the topic of planning, and slowing down for stillness:
This Sunday I am doing our weekly planning process, along with a free breath-work session (to help you clear your mind, and body for the month ahead.)

Today’s Thought: How to solve 90% of your problems
Whenever I have a hard time solving a problem in my life, I resort to one strategy:
|
|
“A problem well stated is a problem half-solved.”
Charles Kettering
|
This could be writing it down, or saying it out loud. As long as I don’t bullshit myself, I almost immediately find the solution to the problem.
Example?
I have been having a hard time eating as much food as I want to each day, and because of that have stayed around 190lbs.
My goal weight (where I want to be once the problem is solved) is 200lbs bodyweight.
I’ve noticed that it’s easy for me to work through the morning without eating, and then eat 2-3 large meals in the afternoon.
How can I solve this problem?
- I could consider going all in on intermittent fasting, assuming I can eat enough in the afternoon to gain weight.
- I could meal prep on Sunday, and Wednesday of each week to make sure I always have enough food prepared.
- I could get an accountability partner, or set a timer each day to remind me of my goal.
And just like that, I have 3 very specific and tangible solutions that feel manageable.
Give it a try.
Today’s Tribute: Friends that become family
Each week I am going to give a tribute to someone special:
- A member in the community
- Impactful people in my life
- One of my clients kicking ass
This week I am going to shout out two people.
Meet two of my best friends, Spencer Cutler (left) and Mckay Elliott (right).
Spencer & I with the founder of Gymshark.

Mckay & I after some Jiu Jitsu training.
|
For Mckay:
I met Mckay when I was 12 years old, and we have been best friends since.
He has been incredibly supportive over the years, and always believed in me even when I didn’t.
We’ve decided to collaborate recently on some marketing, and it gets me fired up at the idea of us dividing and conquering together.
I am proud of your growth, and to call you my brother Mckay! Time to kick some ass.
For Spencer:
I have been close with Spencer since the 1st grade. He is the definition of a “day one” friend.
Over the years we’ve been on our own journeys, but every single time we pick up where we left off.
He has been a friend I can always count on to reciprocate, and hold me to a high standard.
Spencer is genuinely one of the hardest workers I know, and inspires me daily.
I am blessed to have a brother like him, and know he will do great things.
In life, who you surround yourself with matters. Find you some friends like Mckay, and Spencer.
If you want to connect with likeminded people like us, let me know! A friend of mine, is a friend of yours.
