Today’s Topic: Generational curses hold you back
In every family tree lurks pain, and darkness.
Epigeneticists have studied how trauma, experiences, and even fears pass through our DNA.
They say 14 total generations of lets call it “information” is active at any given time.
Including both past, and future generations.
In your family it could be a curse of poverty, or even disease.
In mine, it’s been several:
- Struggles with addictions.
- All forms of abuse.
- Divorce.
And many other examples of repeated pain, and dysfunction.
The craziest part of learning this? We can actually heal for past and future generations through our own healing.
The work you do on yourself will energetically impact the past, and future generations of your family.
It is up to you (and me) to be the ones in our family breaking the curses, or else we will pass them along and harm our future generations.
If you are curious to learn or hear more about this, I made a video linked below talking about my experience with it.
Today’s Tip: Nothing is black or white
Life is complex.
Nothing is truly black, or white. This or that. In or out.
Everything has many layers of nuance. Even “good” and “evil” aren’t that clean cut.
Coming from a lifelong perfectionist, it’s easy to be hard on ourselves when we think in “black” or “white”.
- If I do this I am good.
- If I do this I am bad.
- This means I am this thing, or that thing.
- No one, or everyone is this or that.
Does that make sense?
It’s flawed thinking, and puts us or others into a box that suffocates us.
What if everything, including us was meant to not be so cut and dry?
I believe in life to some extent we can have our cake and eat it too.
I also believe that we can do anything, but not everything.
I think the world is a beautiful and sacred place.
I see that the world is also incredibly dark and cruel at times.
Life is a massive contradiction, so it’s probably best to not take it or ourselves to seriously.
So the next time you think in black or white, ask yourself:
- What other perspective am I not allowing myself to see?
- How true is my belief around this? Can I prove it to be true?
- How would I treat someone else in this situation if it wasn’t myself?
Enjoy the contrast, and do your best in between it.
That’s all we can really do.
Today’s Takeaway: Enjoy a free book on me
Below you can find a link to the audiobook for “The Alchemist.”
This book has had a profound effect on me, and is something I have my clients read.
If you enjoy a good story, and want to learn some valuable life lessons along the way – give this magical book a listen.
Today’s Thought: Are you the one?
I know I am the one in my family to break the generational curses… are you?

Today’s Tribute: The child inside all of us
Each week I am going to give a tribute to someone special:
- A member in the community
- Impactful people in my life
- One of my clients kicking ass
This week I have been deep in thought about the concept known as the inner child.
Me covered in smores around age 8 |
The retreat my partner Aubree and I are running in October is centered around healing this inner child.
Inside of each of us is a little boy or girl that is crying out.
You’ll know they are acting up when you start to self sabotage.
They carry all of your limiting beliefs and negative self talk.
He or she has no coping skills, and can lead you to anxiety or depression.
Your inner child is a part of your mind that holds the parts of you that are wounded.
The little kid in you that wanted help, love, and protection… but didn’t get it.
So today, I want to tribute the little kid in all of us.
The part of us that wants to play.
The innocence we each carry deep down.
Our goofy, weird, and childish self.
Do something today to honor that part of you.
And, if you feel called… consider joining us for our Heal The Inner Child retreat happening October 10th – 13th.
