Today’s Topic: “But I’m not creative”

I remember when I was 9 years old a kid in my class told me my art sucked.

He was great at drawing and I was okay at best.

A limiting belief was formed that day.

“I am not creative.”

What followed is 13 years of me avoiding anything I thought of as creative.

Making music, creating art, designing things, and even dancing.

I felt creatively handicapped. So, I half assed art projects in school and told myself being a creative type wasn’t for me.

At age 22 I went to my first electronic music concert and the first night I couldn’t get myself to dance.

At age 23 I wanted to make content and couldn’t get myself to write or film anything.

At age 24 I tried to build a website and procrastinated for over a year.

“But, I’m not creative” was my excuse.

Here’s what I have learned: Every single person alive is creative.

The only thing stopping us is limiting beliefs and self doubt.

Our “God given” gift is to create. No other species on the planet can do it like we do.

We don’t have to be Vincent Van Gogh to create art.

I definitely wasn’t great at first, but now I couldn’t imagine thinking “I am not creative.”

Turns out I am one of the most creative people I know, and all those years I held myself back.

One comment from a cocky 9 year old was all it took.

Where in your life are you holding yourself back because of something similar?

Break that glass ceiling.

  • Draw something with no judgement or expectation.
  • Dance without worrying about what you look like.
  • Write and share it with others.
  • Talk on camera.

Creativity is unique to you… don’t let anyone stop you from expressing what you are.

Today’s Tip: How to stop giving a f***

I used to give way too many f*ck’s.

  • Worrying what people thought.
  • Stressing about things working out.
  • Overanalyzing everything in my life.
  • Holding myself back out of fear.

Nowadays, I don’t.

I express myself authentically, I speak my mind, I share my weirdness, and I don’t limit myself based on the opinions of others.

Occasionally those old patterns creep in – and then I remember a few truths that bring me back to center:

  • I am going to die one day, and nobody actually cares.
  • Other people are more worried about themselves than me.
  • The #1 regret of the dying is not living authentically.
  • Although my name is Riley that is not really who I am.

Let’s dive into that last one: Who am I really? (Who are you really?)

We are infinite divine beings temporarily in a physical body.

A sliver of the source experiencing itself through the unique perspective of “me” or “you”.

Riley, or your given name is only a label and identity we pretend to be.

When you remember that this is all temporary, but that you are infinite… you kinda stop giving a Fuck all together.

Why take it so seriously?

Why hold back?

Why not?

May as well soak up this physical experience, and beautiful human being you are while it lasts.

Eventually “you” and “me” won’t exist – why limit the expression of these unique and bad ass people we get to be?

Something to think about as you head into this weekend.

Be you fully.

Today’s Takeaway: Looking for beta clients…

I am looking for 5 people that are willing to test out a new program I am putting together.

The goal with the program is to help you identify the core wounds & limiting beliefs that are holding you back.

The outcome I can guarantee is to help you heal and reprogram yourself so moving forwards you aren’t held back anymore.

Normally my coaching clients have paid me no less than $500/month, but for this opportunity I am only asking a one time investment of $197.

If you want to come to my upcoming inner child retreat AND be a beta client I will package them both together for a no brainer deal.

All I ask for in return is a great testimonial and your full commitment to dive deep with me.

Today’s Thought: The greatest tragedy in life

We are feeling deep today.

For life to be meaningful, we need something we are aiming for.

Otherwise… why do we live how we live?

Here’s a quote that summarizes it beautifully:

“The tragedy in life doesn’t lie in not reaching your goal. The tragedy lies in having no goal to reach.”
