Something on my mind:
I spent a day with 25 millionaires last Saturday.
For 12 hours I heard from people like Ed Mylett, Bedros Keuilian, Andy Elliott, and David Goggins.
Here are my top takeaways:
“If I lead myself well, the whole world will follow. Without self leadership, no one will follow me”
One of the speakers (Andy) said that quote, and something internally clicked.
WHY would anyone follow you, if you don’t lead yourself. WHY wouldn’t people follow you, if you lead yourself well.
Does this light a fire under your ass to raise my standard for yourself, and your life? It did for me.
What does that mean? To step up as a better leader to yourself, and to those who follow you. To get real with yourself, and be honest with where you’ve been letting yourself or others down.
To live the life we want to live requires us to be a bad ass, and to hold the standard for ourselves and others.
“My why needs to be worth crawling over broken glass, or dying for”
A big topic of the day is being clear on the vision for our lives, and the reason why we are doing it in the first place.
One of the speakers (Ed) said “The people you want to make proud, may not be around much longer. Time is running out.” That struck a cord because a huge part of my why is the people in my life, maybe you can relate?
Do you want to let down those that believe in you? What about those that need you? I once heard Ed say “who loses if you don’t win”. That is not an option.
Whatever higher power you believe in put you here for a reason, and inspired you to be “THE ONE”.
The One that changes everything for your family. The One that chases and achieves your dreams. The One that changes the lives, and inspires all those around you.
Act accordingly. Tick tock.
“Make a lot of money, help a lot of people, have a lot of fun”
Why are most people miserable? They live in a state of lack, or “not enoughness”.
In reality, this world we live in is a abundant. It’s a Value Add System = more than enough for everyone.
At the end of the day, to have a life of freedom, happiness, and abundance those 3 ingredients are REQUIRED.
Make a lot of money – there’s no shortage of money, only a shortage of knowledge on how to acquire it.
Help a lot of people – nothing feels better in the entire world than helping out your fellow man, and making a difference.
Have a lot of fun – we are here to have a human experience, make the most out of it and have some fun while you are here.
The simple life hack to do all 3?
Being in a state of gratitude, and finding faith in a higher power. You can’t lose, or be in a state of lack with those at the forefront of your mind.
Something I am learning:
I have a vision of helping the masses. Bringing to people all of the resources they would need for healing, growth, and expansion.
This vision is hefty, and requires many skills to bring to life.
The current one I am working on learning is Branding.
More specifically how to build a personal brand, so that I can grow an audience, a community, and begin this mission.
Here is the quick and dirty on what I’ve learned recently:
Personal brands bring value by something called Synthesizing.
Successful personal brands educate their audience on what they’ve learned on their journey. (The ones that actually bring value not just the typical instagram influencer)
Synthesizing is giving a unique perspective, and creating resources that would’ve helped the previous version of them to get where they are faster.
They also have several “interests” or “pillars” they are known for, and spread information on.
The good ones don’t “niche” down to one topic, they have several that make up their brand and attract their target audience.
Example – Joe Rogan isn’t known for just one thing. MMA, biohacking, psychedelics, aliens, and many more topics encompass the personal brand of Joe Rogan.
You don’t listen to Joe Rogan because of the topics necessarily, but because of his personality and how he makes those interests interesting.
I can go deeper on that another time, but for now the lesson for me:
Don’t box myself into one topic. Instead pick 2-4 that really resonate with me and create content that a previous version of me would find value in.
Side note, I am also learning about color theory and why brands choose certain colors over others.
Each color has a psychological effect, and gives us a “feeling” which can help or hurt a brand.
Very interesting.
How I recently failed:
Life isn’t a highlight reel of perfection, we both know that.
Which is why I want to be transparent every week when I drop the ball, and breakdown what I learn from my failures.
After reviewing the first quarter, and the month of April I realized I have missed goals I set at the start of the year:
- Making $10k/month consistently with my new business (the personal brand & mentoring others)
- Hitting 200lbs bodyweight
- Posting 25 youtube videos & doing a newsletter weekly
I failed because I lacked the consistency, and dedication that those things required.
The lesson I learned? Goals are cool, but action taken consistently is way cooler.
How I recently won:
Because of reflecting on my personal mishaps, I decided to take action.
I got brutally honest with myself, and had a “check up from the neck up”.
This lead to me starting an accountability group with some close friends for daily reading, and waking up by 6am.
I can’t say I’ve been perfect, but I can say that it’s a huge win because I am already making way more progress towards my goals.
Story & lesson:
I recently listened to a podcast I recorded with a friend back when I was 19 years old.
The topic was how I made $100,000 in a year doing sales before the age of 20.
I listened with intention, and here’s what I learned:
- I was an even more hard headed, and stubborn person back then – even a bit of a know it all, like most 19/20 year olds lol.
- Sometimes we can be our greatest teachers – it’s easy to get so busy in life that we don’t take the time to reflect, and learn from ourselves.
- My level of conviction, and commitment was greater back then – younger me would give current me a kick in the ass, and reminder of why we started in the first place.
- I’ve grown immensely – back then all that mattered to me was being “successful”, but the definition was all about money and achievement vs quality of life and relationships.
I’ve learned a thing or two since then. I’ve also lost sight of some things along the way.
All I could think about after is:
Take the level of drive, delusion, and commitment younger me had. Combine it with the experience, and wisdom current me has. That is a deadly combo.
