“You can do anything, but not everything.”

This quote has echoed in my mind for years now.
It takes a few minutes to understand, and a lifetime to master.
To illustrate how this works I will give you a personal example.
I am deeply curious about many things.
This has lead my imagination to wander:
- What if I learned how to make music?
- How cool would it be to own several companies?
- Why don’t I travel the world and write a blog?
- Should I become a professional athlete?
You see what I mean right? The possibilities are endless.
Here’s another one:
I was having a conversation with a potential client earlier this year.
“I am working on a podcast. I also want to do comedy. I do events with others. I am also a musician…. etc.”
By the end of the conversation it was like talking to a mirror: Is that what I sound like?
This is what I am learning:
We all have the capability to do anything we set our minds to. I could (or that client could) be or do anything on the list above.
But, we can’t be all of them. Especially at the same time.
Mastery requires something called “Singularity of Focus”.
In other words: focus on one thing.
It is much harder to get results than most people think.
Pick one thing, go all in, and then once you get that down add something else.
Until then – don’t.
This is why I am:
- closing down my real estate school with several students.
- narrowing down my focus in my content.
- simplifying and aligning what I offer to others.
My singularity of focus is to:
Short term: Build up my social media content, following and communities. Run retreats and online/in person events.
Long term: Open a retreat center at my holistic homestead property (farm). Pour all excess money into multi-family real estate for a long term wealth play.
Within this there is still much to do and learn.
I may still need to narrow it down lol, but it’s a start.
Today’s Tip: The one thing
To piggyback on today’s topic – I want to introduce you to a book I am reading.
p.s if you want to grab a copy click here.
I was recommended to read this book over 5 years ago when I became a Real Estate Agent.
Oh the irony. This book would’ve solved the core character flaw I have had this whole time:
Trying to do to many things at once.
What I could’ve learned in a few days of reading has taken 5 years.
Every page of this book holds wisdom to help us become more productive, and to make our to do’s more enjoyable.
I am about 30% through the book, and should finish it this weekend.
So far I’ve learned a few key things:
Multi-tasking is a lie.
It is not a good way to do things, and leads to way more stress.
Doing two things at once means not doing either well.

Successful people don’t have to be disciplined.
We don’t need more discipline, we need to build more habits.
Life and “work” don’t have to be a constant uphill battle won through discipline.
All we need is enough discipline to create one habit at a time.
Then success becomes automatic, because it’s just “what we do”.
We have very limited willpower.
The ability to get results, and to make progress comes down to our willpower.
Our willpower is drained by everything we do all day long.
No willpower means no drive or ability to stick to our plan.
The lesson? Do the most important things first each day, and then rest.
I am bound to learn a whole lot more from this book, and I look forward to sharing it with you next week!
What is your “one thing”?
Today’s Takeaway: Have you ever done breathwork?
I am looking to get some testimonials for breathwork (can be done online and remotely).
If you are looking to:
- gain clarity in your life.
This is for you.
All I ask for in return is a testimonial, and if you feel called a donation (not required).
Sign up here if you are interested.
P.S – We also do breathwork as a group at our ayahuasca retreats. The next one on November 14th – 17th is filling up already. If you are ready to go deep before the end of the year, and renew your lease on life… reach out!
Today’s Thought: Quote from the author of The One Thing
This quote is deep. It slapped me across the face.

“Success demands singleness of purpose.
You need to be doing fewer things for more effect instead of doing more things with side effects.
It is those who concentrate on but one thing at a time who advance in this world.
Passion for something leads to disproportionate time practicing or working at it. That time spent eventually translates to skill, and when skill improves, results improve. Better results generally lead to more enjoyment, and more passion and more time is invested. It can be a virtuous cycle all the way to extraordinary results.
The ONE Thing shows up time and again in the lives of the successful because it’s a fundamental truth.
More than anything else, expertise tracks with hours invested.
The pursuit of mastery bears gifts.
When people look back on their lives, it is the things they have not done that generate the greatest regret…People’s actions may be troublesome initially; it is their inactions that plague them most with long-term feelings of regret.
Make sure every day you do what matters most. When you know what matters most, everything makes sense. When you don’t know what matters most, anything makes sense.”
